Penelope Maclachlan began her career teaching English language and literature at universities in Brazil. After returning to England she taught infants, pupils at secondary schools and adults at night schools.
For three years she was the subeditor at Latin American Newsletters.
She has published articles on various topics, including carnival in Brazil.
For 10 years she worked as a Portuguese interpreter.
She currently edits, on a voluntary basis, an eMagazine; for many of the contributors English is not their first language.
She has just completed editing a 360-page thesis, now in the form of a book entitled Perceive The Patterns, by Haroon Omar Mahdi. (2018)
